Message Ok, let me start off by saying that once upon a time back in 1996 I had a 1990 S-13HB, it was my second car in high school and I loved it. However, it was a tad slow particularly in comparison to my 1st car ( 1969 MB-B Rover V8 Conversion) However, it was dependable and pretty sharp looking by my 16y/o tastes. After about a year I put the car under the knife and swapped in a Red Top SR20DET....even with stock boost...what a difference. It was a great little car!
Then, for some unknown reason I realised I could buy a 300ZX...shortly there after I was stuck in the middle of a five car pile up. The 240 spent he better part of 6 weeks in the body shop, and upon its return I sold it. Well, to get to the thick of it I have been regretting it ever since. I coulda kept it and used it as a beater car!
So, after driving solely my Z since 1999 and putting 26K miles on her, I finally have a 240SX beater again. purchased it last week, in Orlando. 1992 240SX SE, hatchback. Silver, 149K Immaculate 1 previous owner, etc... So, it sat in Orlando for a week while I got a friend to drive me over there (100 miles from Tampa to Orlando) So, we went last night. Had dinner with the girl friend and picked up my car. Now, the friend that drove em over there happens to have a S-14 Silvia Converted 240SX, so it made for an intriguing trip.
I must say that the 1991+ 240's are by far better stock than there 1989/90 counterparts. The car handled remarkably well for 149K mile suspension, the engine while being slow in comparison to my Z, accelerated smoothly and crisply. Rob took it easy in the Silvia, but even so the S-13 was eager to pass cars, and body roll was minimal in comparison to my memories of the 90' S-13. So, I cruise controlled it the rest of the way home, and it now resides in my driveway...with the Z in the garage...the way things ought to be. ;-) The only problem now is that I must remember I bought this to drive while i modded the Z...and dont plan on SR'n for a year...but allready the idea of coilovers, and Redtops are sitting on my mind...LOL Great little car!
